More about Edasil clay mineras

Edasil is a clay mineral (montmorillonite) from the bentonite group. Montmorillonite, due to its unique structure, has the ability to absorb a significant amount of moisture. Among all clay minerals in the bentonite group, montmorillonite stands out for its highest binding capacity. This property is utilized by Edasil for nutrient binding, such as improving CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity) and soil fertility. This prevents leaching and nutrient losses.

Edasil clay minerals have two important applications. Firstly, as a soil fertility and moisture management improver. Secondly, for the production of Bokashi.

Bokashi is a Japanese term for "well-fermented organic material." This fermentation process occurs under anaerobic conditions. For every ton of organic material, 12 kg of Edasil clay minerals, 12 kg of Aegir seashell lime, and 2 liters of Microferm are added. The mixture is sealed airtight for a minimum of 8 weeks. To prevent a significant decrease in pH during fermentation, Aegir seashell lime is added. During the fermentation process, nutrients are released and bound by the Edasil clay minerals. Additionally, the Edasil clay minerals bind substances present in the starting material that may negatively affect microbial growth, preventing any further damage.
