Aegir sea shell lime is an ideal pH buffer. The buffering component (calcium carbonate, CaCO3) is released gradually, providing a gradual pH effect. This gradual pH action is a major advantage compared to regular agricultural lime, which is water-soluble and often loses its buffering effect after a few months. Aegir sea shell lime, on the other hand, has a buffering effect that remains active for up to 3 years.
